Hello friends,

I’ve been listening to so many audiobooks lately.

I thought it would be fun to start sharing takeaways and highlights from all of the books I’m reading. Let me know if you like these posts and what books you think I should listen to next!

I just started listening to Brene Brown’s book Braving The Wilderness and I’ve already picked up so many little nuggets!

In the chapter, I listened to today Brene shares how nervous she was to go on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday (who wouldn’t be?!). She says she was in her hotel room and wrote herself a permission slip on a post-it note to give herself permission to enjoy the experience and have fun.

I’ve spent so much time in my life waiting for someone to give me permission to do the things I wanted to do. I hate to admit this but if my boyfriend had been excited about my idea to start a blog I probably would have started Radical Transformation Project a lot sooner than I did. I was wanting someone to validate my idea and give me permission.

“I’m thinking about starting a mental health blog….”

His response was something along the lines of “oh….a blog??? I don’t really think people read those anymore”.

So I wrote the idea off and moved onto something else. It wasn’t until years later when I was miserable and trying to find any kind of meaning in my life that I finally gave myself permission to create and launch the blog.

I love the idea of writing yourself permission slips because it means you don’t have to wait for anyone else to give you permission to do the things you want to do.

You can do it now and you don’t have to wait.

You can decide.

You can choose.

Sundays are my favorite day of the week to set intentions and I love the idea of writing yourself a permission slip for the week. Brene writes hers on a post-it note and puts it on her computer. I’m going to write mine in my journal. Your permission slip and look however you want!

What do you need to give yourself permission for?

This week I’m giving myself permission to let go of my old relationship and move on from my breakup.

I’m giving myself permission to step into the next level of myself.

I’m giving myself permission to raise my standards for the men that are allowed in my life.

I’m giving myself to show up as my most authentic self even if it looks weird to other people.

I’m giving myself permission to try things and fail.

You don’t have to wait for your boyfriend to validate your ideas like I did.

You can give yourself permission now.

You can go big.

You can ask for more.

Have a great week!

Faith
